The olfactory ecstasy of Black Opium YSL
In 1977 Yves Saint Laurent created the iconic Opium, inspired by imperial China, it is composed of an intricate mix of woody notes including Coriander, Pepper, Patchouli, Bergamot, Coconut, Myrrh and Incense and Sandalwood. Now it's the turn of the brand new Black Opium YSL.
A winning formula that becomes almost "addictive", thanks to the collaboration with the noses Jean Amic and Jean-Louis Sieuzac, who brought the typical noses of the '20s and '30s back into fashion with an intriguing exotic sensuality. The bottle of Black Opium YSL recalls the inro, the case for the objects of oriental warriors in which they placed anaesthetizing liquids.
Forty years later the fragrance reinvents itself and is tinged with black, it is 2014 when the maison launches Black Opium, a mysterious version that plays with "chiaroscuro", which places the emphasis on the tension between light and shadow, white and black shaping themselves between the deepest darkness and the soft brightness. Revisited in a rock and feminine way: the composition is a Flororiental Gourmand, with accords of Coffee, Orange Blossom, Jasmine Sambac and Vanilla. A contrast between the adrenaline of coffee, intense, black and the femininity of white flowers, bright and dazzling.
Four of the most famous noses of excellence in the world participated in the creation of the jus. For the first time, Nathalie Lorson thinks of black coffee as a heart note together with Licorice and Bitter Almond to be included in a feminine perfume. Marie Salamagne contributes a rock accent with notes of crunchy pear and pink pepper. Olivier Cresp's nose focused on Jasmine Sambac and Orange Blossom Absolute while Honorine Blanc gave a romantic touch to the fragrance by offering a bouquet of white flowers that form the base notes together with Vanilla, Patchouli, Cedar and Cashmere Wood .
The skilful work of the four perfumers for Black Opium YSL it is an ecstasy that generates fragrant notes to which one can abandon oneself with pleasure. Even in the bottle we find the play of light and shadow: the completely black interior is illuminated by glitter like a precious container with a round porthole that reveals its contents. Ph.
